Love to Sing?

There is nothing quite like the thrill of standing on the risers, completely immersed in the music surrounding you, and knowing you are a part of making this magic happen as those intriguing barbershop chords ring out of your mouth and into your soul. Some of the more beautiful passages often give you chills while singing them, from the sheer beauty and power of the harmonies this art form produces.

We’ve Got a Part for You!

Barbershop harmony spans the entire vocal range with four voice parts (tenor, lead, baritone, bass) and is perfect for the average singer, offering the ability to find a part which suits your vocal range and to become part of an ensemble where you can shine! Our songs are learned mainly by ear, so even reading music is optional. And although you've always got a place on the chorus risers, some women decide to participate in a quartet also. There seems to be no limit to the opportunities that this little hobby we call "chorus" offers.

Do I Have What It Takes?

Sweet Adelines has been known throughout the years as an organization accepting amateur singers and producing professional sounds. How do we do this? Education, opportunity, performance, encouragement and competition.

Towns of Harmony’s main performance schedule is from June through December, although we’ll sing whenever anyone wants us to! With our skills always on demand, weekly rehearsals are intended to keep us continually improving our skills and our sound. You never know when a little nugget of learning will make an impact during rehearsal and help you improve your personal performance level.

Towns of Harmony attends two regional “Harmony Weekend” educational events annually, and often has attendees at international events as well. But aside from that, every rehearsal is a weekly opportunity to hone our skills, encouraging each other to shine to our fullest.

Getting ready for competition offers an even greater level of vocal skill development, both as individual singers and in developing our unit sound. Singing a cappella barbershop harmony is challenging and we work hard to get just the right sound. On top of that, there are the visual considerations to learn like choreography, costumes, make up… and smiles!!! But the rewards are beyond measure to be a part of this awesome hobby making beautiful music and sharing it with the world.

It's More than Just Singing

Many of us wish we’d found this chorus long before we did. The friendships, the harmony, the laughter, and the support of this group of women is priceless. We may be here for the harmony, but it’s more than singing. We are truly sisters in harmony. But we believe it when they say: “the more, the merrier” and there’s always room for more!

And the friendships aren’t limited to our little chorus, either. By attending regional and international events, we have discovered that friendships can stretch many miles. You never know if the person sitting beside you in a seminar might be a new friend before the weekend is over.

Now is the Perfect Time!

Like many barbershop choruses, Towns of Harmony is currently transitioning from the “chorus of yesterday” into the “chorus of today.” From electronic media to music variety to bridging the generation gap, we hope to become bigger and better as the future unrolls. We believe in the power of music and the magic of friendships to carry us into our new tomorrow with strength and a smile. If you’ve ever considered singing with us, there’ll never be a better time than now!
